ANDREW JOHN (DREW) MORRISON
Biography
Andrew Morrison ("Drew" to his family and friends), a native of Palo Alto, California and the San Francisco Bay Area, currently lives and paints in Texas. He has been sketching and drawing from a very young age, painting seriously for the past 35+ years.
Drew is almost totally self-taught having learned via practice, trial-and-error, and some reading. He has thus far focused on a representational style called luminism, a type of realism/photo-realism with impressive detail leading to his having been dubbed a “painter’s painter” by fellow artists who’ve seen his work.
For subject matter, Drew’s heart continues to remain mostly in San Francisco, particularly its beautiful scenery, buildings, vistas, and architecture. He also enjoys creating still lifes, figure studies, and portraits.
Drew is currently an inmate. He has used painting as one of the limited ways open to him to lead a useful life in an extremely challenging environment. Also, soon after entering prison, he began attending classes via an in-prison college program, and in May 2010 he graduated from Texas A&M University summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Drew continues to further his craft and education while diligently working toward regaining his freedom and returning home to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Drew is represented by his Father, David Morrison, as his agent in all his business transactions involving his paintings.
